FAQ

  • Renting a trailer with CTS is simple and straightforward. Start by selecting your trailer and choosing the dates you need the rental. Once you have confirmed availability, lock in your reservation by paying the rental fee, then signing your rental agreement. On pickup day, head to our shop in Hilton, NY, where our team will help you complete a quick pre-tow safety check before you haul away. When your job is done, simply return the trailer on time to the same location.

  • To hit the road safely, your vehicle must be rated to handle the trailer’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and towing capacity. Your tow vehicle needs an approved frame-mounted hitch with the correct ball size, a functioning 7-way connector for signals and lights, and an operational electronic brake controller—which is required by New York State law for any trailer over 1,000 lbs GVWR.

When you arrive, our team will perform a quick inspection of your vehicle setup, hitch, and wiring to ensure everything is secure. To keep everyone safe on the road, we are unable to release the rental if your vehicle fails safety checks or lacks the required towing capacity.

  • We understand that projects don't always go according to schedule, and we are committed to accommodating your changing towing needs whenever possible. If you need the trailer for longer than planned, please contact our team as early as possible so we can check availability and work with you to update your rental terms.

Because trailer availability varies, all rental extensions must be approved in writing by our team before your original return time to secure the equipment. Just give us a call at (585) 500-1199 before your time is up, and we'll be happy to help you extend your trip and avoid any unapproved late fees.

  • If you run into any mechanical issues, flat tires, or an accident, pull over safely and call us right away at (585) 500-1199. We’ll guide you through the next steps and coordinate approved towing or repair assistance to get you back on the road. Just remember to contact us before arranging any repairs yourself, as independent services require prior written approval.
